Classroom Defensive Driving Courses

We offer 6-hour classroom courses, which by law in New York State, entitles principal drivers to a 10% reduction on their automobile liability, collision, and no fault premiums for 3 years.

The course also subtracts up to 4 points from the motorist's record by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for infractions that have occurred in the 18 month period prior to completion of the course.

National Safety Council Certified Instructors

The DDC 6-hour classroom course is presented by National Safety Council certified instructors who, with the help of modern multimedia techniques, offer you a new approach to learning accident prevention skills. You'll receive a course guide to use in class and keep for future reference.

Even the most experienced drivers find the course interesting and filled with valuable safe driving tips. It's great for new drivers too, and family involvement is encouraged.

Insurance Discounts

Complete the Defensive Driving Course (DDC) through Driver Improvement Programs and become eligible for the following motor vehicle insurance discounts, each year, for 3 Years.

• 10% Discount on Collision Premiums
• 10% Discount on No Fault Premiums
• 10% Discount on Liability Premiums

These reductions also apply to Property Damage (PD), Bodily Injury (BI), and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) on all vehicles for which you are listed on the policy as principal operator, including: automobiles, trucks, and recreational vehicles.

Eligibility

Drivers of all ages and experience are eligible for premium reductions by successfully completing a Driver Improvement Program course.

• Assigned Risks – Reduction in liability base rate regardless of driver record.
• Commercial Vehicle Policies – Where there is clearly defined principal operator or all drivers complete DDC! (Experience rated policies excepted. However, improved driving experience as a result of DDC completion will result in lower premiums.)
